Playing, Moving, Eating

With Travis gone so much, Bergen and I get to spend a lot of time together just us. He is becoming quite the little mover and is constantly ending up in places I think are kind of funny.

He likes to roll over to the entertainment center and play with the swinging doors.
At the end of the day I put the toys in the living room into this basket. In the morning and thru out the rest of the day, Bergen has fun pulling them out. You may notice he does have a couple of non traditional toys. The cardboard box for instance, apparently it tastes good. And a diaper (clean of course). These days, in order to keep him occupied and laying still long enough to change his diaper, I give him his own to play with.

He's discovered the rug and blinds on the back door.
Bergen was on one side of the room when I went into the bathroom. When I came out he was on the other side of the room...under his crib. He kept laughing and turning to look at me like he was quite proud of himself!
This is one of those crazy morning hairdos I've mentioned. He's talking to daddy on the phone, or was that eating the phone?
Bergen will finally sit still enough to use this highchair. I've tried it a couple of times before and he would lean really far to one side or try and slide himself down. I think he thinks it's cool now, sitting up at the table like mom and dad. He also seems to be more interested in the food we're eating than the pureed food I'm spooning into his mouth. Cheerios! I love those things. They keep him so quiet! (In fact, so quiet he had his first movie theater experience this week.)

The week of Thanksgiving tooth #1 came through, and the week after tooth #2 showed up. Teeth are not an easy thing to take a picture of! This is the best we got.
This is a little jacket I wore when I was a baby. I think he's pretty cute in it. I wonder if he looks like me?

Six Months Old

Half a year! I can hardly believe it. Spending a few minutes cuddling with him, seeing him learn something new, or hearing him laugh makes even the longest days seem like the best days. We love this little boy more than we ever thought possible!

Bergen now weighs 15lbs. 13oz. and is 27 1/2 inches long.
Some of his favorite things to play with are my hair brush, a toothbrush (one just for him to use while we brush our teeth), a washcloth, little cardboard boxes, some blocks, the pieces to a stacking pyramid, teething rings, and the phones.

We are still having beautiful weather and have gone to the park a couple of times lately. Bergen likes the swing. Actually, I think he just really likes being outside! He can be fussy fussy and I can't figure out what he needs, but if I put him in the stroller he's as relaxed as can be and doesn't make a peep. It's a good thing we've got some good areas to walk around!
I put Bergen in the crib to sleep one way, but guaranteed that's not the way he wakes up anymore. These little toes sticking out were too cute to pass up!
Bergen's a pretty good roller now and goes after things. One morning while I was getting ready, I found he had gotten himself into a bit of a tricky situation...
...under our bed that is. Since then, this has happened several times.
Speaking of going after things...I had laid out a blanket and put some toys on it for Bergen to play with. I then went into the kitchen to work on dinner. It wasn't long before he had the blanket wadded up, the toys covering much of the floor, and what was he doing?
You guessed it, eating my decorations! I think our Christmas tree is going to be in trouble this year ;)

Zoo

Bergen and I got to go to the zoo last week. We went with a bunch of friends and it was a lot of fun! Bergen enjoyed watching the monkeys run around and he was very interested in the fish tanks. Other than that I think he just liked being out and watching the other kids...except Audrey may have been his favorite thing of the day. Check out the video below!

Making a Move

This is how Bergen gets around these days. He started here...
Arches his back and pushes off with his feet.
Stops to look at his cool hands and fingers for a moment.
Uses the door frame as leverage.
And makes it from the pile of clothes where I was changing him to the other side of the room.
Funny boy!

Five Months Old

What new with Bergen?
He weighs 15 lbs. 3 oz. and is 26 1/8 in long.

He's gone from taking three naps a day, to taking only 2 naps a day.

He goes to sleep around 9pm and gets up sometime between 6am and 9am to eat. If it's before 8am, he almost always goes back to sleep for another hour or two. I love this kid (I like sleeping in too)!

He learned how to blow bubbles.

He arches his back when we pick him up, as if to help us (this is one of my favorite things).

He can roll from his tummy to his back with ease, and is so close going the other way.

He's discovered he can scoot around on the floor.

He's really into what we are eating. In fact I can no longer eat while I'm nursing him because he spends all his time trying to grab what I have and won't eat himself.
Getting pictures of him on his tummy is harder to catch...
now that he instantly wants to roll over.
He looks so cute, I just wanted to practice with my camera.

Fine. The tears will get me every time. We can stop, but I still think you are cute!

New Baby Nathan

At the beginning of this month Nathan joined Helen, Brant, and Joshua's family. Bergen and I got to stay with them for a week and a half. I would say we were there to help, but adding to the chaos was more like it :) This is sweet baby Nathan.
This was our attempt to take a picture of the boys...
Getting all three was a lot harder. Joshua loves Bergen, but doesn't like when Bergen touches him. He always squirms away.
One day I took Bergen and Joshua out for a few hours so Helen and Nathan could take a nap. We went to PetSmart and looked at fish, cats, fish, hamsters, more fish, dogs, and more fish. Then we went to McDonald's to play since it was cold and rainy out. Joshua ate a couple of chicken nuggets and drank some "choco" milk. He got down off his seat and lost it all...yucky! Travis also got to join us for the last 2 days we were there. Less than 2 weeks and the Olivers will be back at home, a long ways away from here :(

Videos for Dad

We have no idea what he's saying, but he's sure telling us!

Lately I've been putting Bergen in the Jumper while I get ready in the mornings. He seems to really like it these days.

I got Bergen ready for a bath, but then decided I would shower myself first. So I put Bergen in the bouncer where I could see him. He wiggled and wiggled, and then discovered his toes. This was the first time I've seen him grabbing his feet like this. If he didn't have his feet to distract him, I would have called this video, "Get Me Out of Here!"

A Few Firsts

Hair Cut
Well, just a trim really. I didn't want to do it before he was a year old but from the back it looked like he had wings, just look at how long it is! So we trimmed a little around his ears, but not too much. He looks really handsome.
This is how much we cut off. I saved most of it and put it in his baby book.
Jump Jump
I started putting Bergen in the jumper. At first he wasn't sure what to do but after a couple of times he decided bouncing was really fun. He's also really good about spinning in a circle. It kind of cracks me up that it's always the same direction. I think this is a great way to keep him entertained for 15-20 minutes and I can make dinner or do something on the computer hands free, but I think he is so cute I end up sitting by him watching and playing with him for half that time.
Rice Cereal
We've started giving Bergen cereal on occasion. He eats it really well, but is definitely just as interested in holding the spoon and pulling it towards his mouth each time as he is in the actual cereal. Luckily for us he isn't too messy...yet :) I'm sure that will come soon enough. (Notice the shorter hair around his ears)
Rolling Over
Bergen has rolled over 4 or 5 times on his own. Although I'm not convinced it was on purpose. This is the night we got home from Oregon. Travis was getting him ready for bed and was in a very giggly mood. Of course by the time we got the camera the big giggles were gone, but we did capture a roll over.
video
I've said it before, but I'll say it again...he's such a little sweetheart and we just love him so much!

Bath Time

One thing we can always count on...Bergen loves his baths! It's been fun to watch him learn to make bigger and bigger splashes. He usually bathes at night right before bed. Which means he goes to sleep with slightly damp hair and that makes for some seriously CRAZY hair in the morning :)
